Introducing Chen Feng — Head of Research

Chen Feng is an accomplished researcher and blockchain expert, currently serving as an Associate Professor at the University of British Columbia’s (UBC) Okanagan campus, where he is also the Tier-2 Principal’s Research Chair in Blockchain. In addition to co-leading Blockchain@UBC, Chen’s extensive academic background includes a PhD from the University of Toronto and postdoctoral research positions at EPFL and Boston University.

At Autonomys, Chen leads the research team, driving key innovations to ensure the network’s infrastructure remains at the cutting edge of blockchain technology. A co-inventor of Fast-HotStuff, Chen’s research spans blockchain, quantum communications, and coding theory. He has worked on notable projects including incentive analysis for Bitcoin and Ethereum, as well as collaborations with Dapper Labs on the Flow blockchain.

Chen is also one of the primary authors of Autonomys’ upcoming whitepaper, which will be released in the coming weeks. This whitepaper will outline the network’s approach to decentralization, scalability, and security, aligning closely with Autonomys’ broader vision of building a decentralized foundation that empowers individuals and communities in the age of AI. His research not only enhances the technical backbone of the network but also ensures that Autonomys is positioned to support the future of web3 and decentralized AI, staying true to its mission of creating a more autonomous and accessible digital ecosystem as the foundation layer for AI3.0.
